What makes me qualified?

Mr SB Bavu is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, with more than ten years of post-admission experience. He holds an LLB, LLM (Labour Law) and Post Grad Diploma in Industrial Relations. He specializes more in Civil and Constitutional Litigation. He also specializes in labour-related matters (Employment Law). He chairs Conciliations and Arbitrations at the CCMA and outside the CCMA. Outside the CCMA, he also represents both employers and employees in unfair dismissal and unfair labour disputes. He litigates mostly in High and Labour Courts around the country.

– 2010, The beginning

Mr SB Bavu, the Director and Founder of SB Bavu Inc, was born and bred in Libode Location in the Eastern Cape. Completed his LLB Degree in 2010 at Walter Sisulu University. He attended Practical Legal Training in East London in 2011. He then completed his one-year articles of clerkship at Elliot & Walker Attorneys in Kokstad in August 2012. On the 12th of September of the same year, he got admitted as the Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in Pietermaritzburg High Court Division

– 2013, Legal Advisor at Ntabankulu Local Municipality

In February 2013 Mr SB Bavu, was employed as a Legal Advisor at Ntabankulu Local Municipality for a period of two years.  During his time at Ntabankulu Local Municipality, he gained knowledge and experience in rendering advice to the Executive Management and Municipal Council pertaining to matters involving Local Government Law: Municipal Finance Management Act, Municipal Structures Act, and Municipal Systems Act.

He also assisted the Corporate Services Directorate with his expertise in Labour related disputes thereby chairing and conducting disciplinary proceedings.

– 2014, Sb Bavu Inc Attorneys

The SB BAVU INC ATTORNEYS law firm was established in March 2014. Initially we were practicing under the name and style ‘Bavu Attorneys’ until September 2015 when the firm subsequently became incorporated.

On the 10th of October 2015, the firm was registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission under the enterprise name ‘SB Bavu Incorporated Attorneys.

– 2017, Further Qualification

In May 2017 Mr SB Bavu, completed his Masters Degree in Labour Law at the University of KwaZulu Natal.

In 2018 Mr SB Bavu, further obtained a Post Grad Diploma in Industrial Relations at the University of KwaZulu Natal.

– 2019, Sb Bavu Inc Attorneys

In 2019 Mr SB Bavu, was subsequently appointed as the Part Commissioner at the CCMA, which position he has to date still occupies.
